Shanghai for a day: what should I do/buy?

I'm a 20 year old girl who is taking a trip to Shanghai with her dad! We will only be there two days because he is a pilot- on a trip there &back. (I'm actually flying on the airplane my dad is piloting, for the first time!) Anyways, I was wondering what someone who is familiar with the area could recommend for me to do/sight-see. Any advice would be great! I am also interested in shopping for sunglasses or cool knickknacks that i could bring back for my friends to have. Any place that I could find good deals would be excellent. THANKS.
