Won an essay contest from an organization in California, do I have to file a California return?

Hi, I won several thousand dollars in an essay contest. The institute that held the contest is located in California. I do not live in California and have never lived there. Do I have to file a California return? I believe I have already payed federal taxes for these winnings through Tax Act. If I need to pay taxes for these winnings I'd like to do it "offline" so I won't have to pay anymore TaxAct fees. So in that case, what form do I use, where do I get it, etc.?
