How much money to bring to Shanghai for 6 months?

I plan to travel to Shanghai for about 6 months and I was wondering what is the minimum amount of money I should be bringing for food, clothing, drinks, etc. Basically play money. Im going to do a study abroad program so I have housing and insurance covered. Thanks!
