Is my 45 minute connection time for an international flight in JFK a problem?

You will be cutting it extremely close. Usually 45 minutes is not that long. And that's if the flight from Charlotte to JFK leaves on time. I am not that familiar with JFK but you probably wouldn't need to but I would call ahead of time just to confirm.
